Auch bekannt als: conveyance priority notice, land register priority notice

The Auflassungsvormerkung (priority notice of conveyance) is a protective measure registered in the land register (Grundbuch) in favour of the buyer of a property. It is entered after the notarial purchase contract is concluded and protects the buyer against the seller selling the property to a third party or registering additional encumbrances. The priority notice secures the claim to transfer of ownership (Auflassung) and is an essential part of the German property purchase process. (§ 883 BGB)
