A penthouse apartment is a dwelling on the top floor of a building, featuring large roof terraces, floor-to-ceiling windows, and upscale fittings. Under German condominium law, the terraces are frequently defined as exclusive use rights (Sondernutzungsrecht), while in terms of ownership they technically belong to the common property (Gemeinschaftseigentum).
