Condominium Fee (Hausgeld)

Condominium fee (Hausgeld) for apartment owners in Germany: what it covers, how it is calculated, and how it differs from operating costs.

Financial
§ 16 Abs. 2, § 28 WEG

Also known as: condo fee, homeowners association fee, monthly service charge

The Hausgeld (condominium fee) is the monthly advance payment that apartment owners pay to their homeowners' association (WEG). It covers the allocable operating costs, the contribution to the maintenance reserve fund, and non-allocable management costs. The Hausgeld is therefore typically higher than the operating costs paid by tenants. (§ 16 Abs. 2, § 28 WEG)
