Since 23 December 2020, the estate agent commission (Maklerprovision) for property purchases under German law must generally be split equally between buyer and seller. In Bavaria, a total commission of 7.14% (incl. VAT) is customary, amounting to 3.57% per party. The commission claim only arises upon conclusion of the main contract. (§ 656a-656d BGB)
